About the unit

This dialysis unit is operated as a partnership of Fresenius Medical Care and Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust.

At Colchester we have capacity for 120 chronic patients to dialyse for three times per week, as well as an acute service in the main hospital and an on-call rota for emergency dialysis.

Plus a nursing team consisiting of 5 team leaders (senior nurses), 10 registered nurses, 4 dialysis assisstants, and 2 health care assistants.

And a support staff team consisting of 2 clinic secretaries and 7 full-time patient transport drivers.

Student nurses are allocated to the dialysis unit for varying periods of time from the University of Essex and Anglia Ruskin.
