About the unit

This is the hub Dialysis Centre for the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at Hammersmith Hospital, London. The unit serves the 2 million people of West London. We provide Haemodialysis for patients who are acutely unwell and in hospital but already established on our programme in our eight satellite centres (Charing Cross, St Charles, Central Middlesex, West Middlesex, Ealing, Hayes, Northwick Park and Watford). We also care for people first starting dialysis and encourage home treatment where this fulfils patient need - we have an integrated Home Therapies Team on site and provide growing Peritoneal Dialysis and Home Haemodialysis Programmes.

Research and special expertise

We have an active Dialysis Reasearch Group with interest in vascular access respecting patient choice, dialysis adequacy examining the feasibility and effects of extended treatment time, renal anaemia and the appropriate use of transplantation and dialysis for individuals including more vunerable people such as the elderly.
