This is a satellite unit serving the community of Middlesbrough and East Cleveland. It was set up within the precincts of the Health Village which also holds General Practice surgeries, a pharmacy, dental surgery and other health care services.
One of the original General Hospitals in Middlesbrough used to stand on a site across the road. Here at North Ormesby Hospital the original 'Artificial Kidney Unit' for Middlesbrough was opened in November 1969, a stones throw from the new satellite unit. North Ormesby Hospital closed in 1981 and moved to the then newly built South Cleveland Hospital, now greatly expanded and re-named the James Cook University Hospital, where the parent Renal Unit for North Ormesby is now based.
