Our recently opened satellite haemodialysis unit is based at University Hospital Ayr. Sr Fiona McDonald is in charge, based at University Hospital Crosshouse. The nursing staff rotate from the main unit at Crosshouse. There are ten stations, with four treatment shifts, using haemodiafiltration only. The unit is nurse led with the two consultants visiting to review patients. Our renal pharmacists and dietitians also visit regularly. There is high quality videoconferencing equipment in the unit to facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings.
Dr Smith attends the unit weekly on Wednesdays. Dr MacGregor visits monthly on either a Tuesday or a Thursday.
There are two general nephrology clinics at Ayr, on Wednesday AM (return patients, Dr Smith and either Dr MacKenzie or Dr Imtiaz) and Thursday PM (new patients, Dr Smith).
