About the unit

The St John's Hospital Satellite Unit in Livingston opened for business in February 2005 and is a satellite of the renal unit at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. It opened with 24 patients from the West Lothian area and has increased to 40 over 2 daytime shifts since then. It has space for 10 stations including 2 isolation cubicles and performs both haemodialysis and haemodiafiltration. Other services provided in St.John's include general nephrology, transplant and PD follow-up clinics.
