We have 42 Stationed Haemodialysis stations and offer two dialysis shifts per day. About one third of our patients receive post-dilutional HDF with the rest treated with standard HD (mostly high flux dialyser). The number of those receiving HDF is steadily rising.
Peritoneal dialysis (Lynn McAteer 01236 712648)
We have a small but successful PD programme. We have clinics every 2 weeks.
We have several general nephrology clinics per week on the Monklands site as well as a general nephrology clinic once a week at Hairmyres and Wishaw (Fridays)
In addition, we also have a hypertension clinic and have a diabetes/renal clinic every 2 weeks on the Monklands site. A diabetes/renal clinic has started at Hairmyres since 2008 and this also runs every 2 weeks.
Kidney and pancreas transplantation (Charrie Bradley 01236 712645)
Kidney transplants are carried out at Glasgow Western Infirmary, and combined kidney-pancreas transplants at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Follow-up is transferred to our clinic at one year post-transplant. Transplant patients are reviewed by senior staff at our weekly clinic.
