The unit currently has 13 stations, 2 isolation rooms and 60 patients. The Northampton unit stands alone and is nurse led. There is no resident physician and patients attend Northampton General Hospital if a clinical need arises. Dr W Pickering manages this group of patients and undertakes clinic at the unit once a week. Northamptonshire is currently actively developing an in-county renal service, with a significant expansion in facilities for patients with renal disease by 2008.
