The haemodialysis unit at Orsett hospital was opened in May 2009 and is a satellite unit of Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital. Built to provide more convenient facilities for the local population and to help deal with the expanding population of dialysis patients at the main unit, it has 10 stations and is open for two shifts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There are currently 16 patients dialysing here but both the number of patients and opening days will increase in the future. Review clinics are conducted within the unit in a newly refurbished clinic room.
