A new, interim, dialysis centre opened at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), Queens Medical Centre on January 18th 2010. It is a ten-station unit initially operating two shifts per day and will be operated by Diaverum, working in partnership with NUH. It is a stand-alone building located on the QMC campus on the grassy knoll between South Block and the Postgraduate Education Centre.
The new unit supplements existing dialysis facilities at the City Hospital campus of NUH, and the two satellite units at Kings Mill Hospital and Ilkeston Community Hospital. It will meet the increased demand for dialysis within the Nottingham area and provide patients from the southside of Nottingham access to services closer to their homes thus increasing patient choice.
