About the unit

Patients first dialysed in 1987 when the satellite unit was based at Birch Hill Hospital, at this time it had a capacity of 6 stations. In 2001 the capacity was increased to 16 stations dialysing a total of 64 patients.

In 2005 the unit transferred to its present location at Rochdale Infirmary still, with 16 stations and a total of 64 patients.

The Renal Unit includes the following services;
(i) A 16 station Haemodialysis Unit
(ii) Outpatient Nephrology Clinics
(iii) Renal Anaemia service
(IV) Inpatient care for all renal patients

Patients who live in Rochdale and the surrounding area who have previously dialysed at Hope are able to access this service. This has substantially reduced travelling times for them and has helped to meet the standards set in the National Framework for Renal patients to have access to services nearer home.

If any further information is needed please refer to Salford Hope Hospital.
