Taunton Dialysis Centre is a BBraun-run haemodialysis unit, commissioned by Specialist commissioners in Somerset. This service for local patients moved to its newly-refurbished location at Creech Castle in September 2008. All but a few patients have their medical care supervised by staff from the Exeter Kidney Unit.
There are currently 16 stations running 2 sessions per day, 6 days per week. In addition there are twilight shifts available Mon/Wed/Fri for 12 patients, and Tues/Thur/Sat for 8 patients.
In addition to haemodialysis provision, outpatient HD consultant clinics are run on-site every fortnight, along with nurse-led reviews for local peritoneal dialysis patients and anaemia clinics (for initiation of EPO / IV iron) via staff from Exeter Kidney Unit.
The unit is situated within 2 minutes of the M5 at junction 25, less than 2 miles from the centre of Taunton. |
